These Solar-Powered Mineralizers employs a natural technology, that has been used for millennium. Just place the Ionizer in the pool and naturally occurring minerals, are released slowly into the pool water, by the Sun’s energy. Sunlight is converted, by the solar cells, into a low voltage current, which slowly dissolves a sacrificial anode beneath the pool water surface. The Dual-Ions, (Copper and Zinc), in the water, retard the growth of algae and other microorganisms resulting in a significant reduction in the amount of oxidizer (chlorine or bromine) required to keep your pool sparkling clear, clean and healthy. For best results, keep the pH at 7.2-7.6 and favor the lower end, especially, if the water is hard. Monitor the copper level and keep it under 1.0 PPM. A level of 0.3 PPM would be ideal. The Solar Clear model is foam Filled, making in unsinkable.  Photovoltaic (Solar) Cell faces upwards, when the unit floats and the anodes remain submerged.  Features a larger anode, that provides longer-lasting performance, before the anode has to be replaced. These units have 489 gram anodes, as compared to the 412 gram anode used in Floatron units*.  The larger anode, which are replaceable, means longer life.   When used with any new or existing salt chlorine generator, these Mineralizers can extended the life of the salt cell, by assisting in the sanitizing process.  This means that the salt chlorine generator, does not have to work as hard and that allows the salt cell to last longer.  It should also make the pH easier to maintain. This Solar-Powered, Dual Patented Process, Salt Chlorine Generator utilizes the Sun’s power to transform salt (NaCl) into usable, free chlorine (HOCl), by means of electrolysis, powered by a non-harmful, high output solar panel. The Model SP-SCM also employs an anode that, through the patented salt dissolution process, releases charged mineral ions that actively penetrate the cell walls of algae spores and inhibits growth. The chlorine and mineral levels are adjustable to prevent over chlorination and ionization. The high-tech solar panel will work in cloudy weather or even in the shade! If you are replacing an existing salt chlorine generator, no salt has to be added, on a weekly basis, providing that the pool's salt level is 3200 - 6000 PPM. If you are starting with fresh water, add 7 pounds of salt, to the unit, on a weekly basis. Over time, the salt level will rise. When it reaches 3200 - 6000 PPM, no additional salt is required to be added to the unit. If you would rather not add salt on a weekly basis, simply raise the salt level of the pool to at least 3200 PPM, but less than 6000 PPM.
